The First Day of Football
September 9, 2009
As I mentioned last week, we are huge college football fans and couldn't wait for the first day of football.
Locally, Old Dominion University launched their first football season in 69 years this past Saturday and we were at the game. We happened to be tailgating with the man whose name is On the stadium. Needless to say, we had prime seats from our tailgating spot to see a lot of action.
The ODU Monarch mascot went by and paused for a picture with me.

By taking a few steps towards the stadium entrance, the football team walked by to cheers from their fans.
Then I met this guy -- Mr. Subway who was walking around with his accomplice trying to sell $5 footlong subs.

Let me think about that, Um, No!
My beer was almost full and I have a thing about people backwashing that I Know. So I convinced Tim who was almost finished with his Corona to give Mr. Subway the rest of his beer.
It's hard to tell but he's chugging it under his subway costume. Nice tights dude.He said he could get fired and I said, don't worry, I just have a blog where I share pictures with a few hundred people a day. *Cue evil laugh.* I told him to google "Mr. Subway" sometime this week.
Because we were invited to the suite of the stadium's name-sake, we were treated to a catered buffett, multiple adult drink options and a great view. Along the way, there were some recognizable faces such as the republican governor candidate Bob McDonnell and his family plus a few local sports newscasters.

What a fun day! I love football, especially college football. I was a little more pleased with the VA Tech/Alabama game than you were! Roll Tide!
Wow, you were spoiled!
I do love a marching band! And a Mr. Subway.
What fun...football season gets a lot of attention in this house.
Man, sounds like the perfect day!! How fun. :)
I totally heart college football too. And as an Auburn fan, was really disappointed that VT wasn't able to pull off a W.
My son ran up to his room during the OSU football game and put on his #33 jersey! I loved Lauranitis, whose jersey that was. He was the best defensive player that ever graced the buckeye state.
I think you're totally awesome for giving Mr. Subway some beer. Next time, get some free sandwiches out of it. ;)
Sounds like so much fun! Now that we've got all the kids out of the house we'll be heading off to the football games again also. Can't wait - 'tis the season!
