Friday Night Lights
September 21, 2010
We traveled nine hours to Kentucky this past weekend to celebrate my stepson's 18th birthday and watch him play football like we did last year. He's definitely a lot bigger than he was in 2000.
It was cool to watch Cary, captain his senior year, lead his team out on the field.
Proud Dad watching the game.
It was a family affair complete with a grandparent, aunt, cousins and siblings in attendance.
Many of whom were not interested in the game as much as running up and down the hill, looking for bugs and doing some sideline tackling.
All of the athletic supporters was definitely divided in their color loyalty for two schools only a few miles apart.
Customary self-portrait with Troy during the game. It's the only way I'm in any pictures.
My high school was all girls til my freshman year so we didn't have a football team. In my graduating class of 31, there were six boys.
The only good thing about not having a football team?
No cheerleaders.

I love Troy's game face in your self portrait picture!
Is Cary going to play college ball? Is it mandatory that he attends Va Tech;)
Our high school didn't have cheerleaders for a few years because no one wanted to do it!
Heart warming!
Does your stepson look like Riggins on "Friday Night Lights?"!!
Oh Deb!
Friday night football is one of my most cherished memories of my oldest boy. I'm so glad you were able to go. I wondered where on earth you were going (tweets). Treasure every chance you get to do this.
AND, I have a Troy too! Another great self portrait!
