Seasons Change (Guest Post)
June 17, 2010
I'm still on my beach vacation and Cathy Has Antsy Pants has agreed to do a guest blog. If you haven't been to her site, please stop by.When Deb asked if I wanted to guest post I was all over it. But then, of course, I had to figure out what to write about?!?
So, I thought, her title is Web Savvy Mom, maybe I could write about being web savvy; I can perform a Google search with the best of 'em and have figured out enough HTML to design my own blog, but I don't know that I'd really consider myself savvy. Or, is it savy, Deb?
But then I remembered that we talk (via email, of course) about the weather a lot. She makes fun of me for living in Minnesota and I get jealous of her living on the coast. It's a win-win situation.....for her. So today you get to hear about the weather.
One thing Deb told me was that she doesn't even own an ice scraper! What the
Throw in some down filled mittens and a hand-made scarf and you've got yourself a killer present!
Any good Minnesotan knows that you always keep a pair of extra boots in the trunk, just in case your commute home looks like this:
You never know when you'll go sliding into the ditch.
Let me assure you, it doesn't snow here every month. We have beautiful summers that give us views like this:
In July and August temps can reach into the 100's. Fall usually gives us nice crisp days and spring brings lots of rain and mud. We love our seasons, but we'll complain about them to whoever will listen!
So, if you ever run into a Midwesterner, just bring up the weather and let them talk, you'll be instant best friends.

I may not live in the midwest but you have it with complete accuracy I am sure. My bff is in the midwest and we have compared weather before...the northeast has a similar situation.
We complain when it is cold and when it is too hot.. I own boots several scarfs and a few pairs of mismatched gloves.
I say we all send Deb a scraper for Christmas this year. :)
Thanks for asking me to guest post! Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
Would you believe it's going to be 90* here today! Of course, I'll complain that it's too hot!
Yes, VL, we should send her ice scrapers!
i remember your pics during the winter months and i seriously don't know how people actually LIVE up there. i'm fairly certain my heating bill would be insanely high and i would get fired from my job because i'd never go. seriously. you people are like damn eskimos.
It must be a Midwestern thing to love talking about the weather. I think it's because we live in the "rolling plains" and you can see the weather coming.
My first Winter here in the mountains of North Carolina was brutal, but awesome because I got to feel superior to all these kids whose schools used to close down when anyone even claimed to have seen AH snowflake.
Also, love those boots.
Oh, and you!
Oh, so true. I am appreciating the humidity and warmth a little more since you put the picture of a snow covered road up. I love MN...but I do complain about the weather a lot :)
I had no idea that our winters were so similar to those in the mid-west. Although you guys get more snow. The next time we get the amount of snow that we got here this past winter, I am so outta here.
I love cute boots though. :)
I so feel your pain! I am in Ohio and it is so rough in the winters, but it is nothing compared to Minnesota. I long for the day when we can move to the coast, or even someplace where I don't have to worry about snow.
Imagine my shock when we moved from south Louisiana to Ohio in November of 2005! Such an eye opener. It went from beautiful fallen leaves on the ground to several feet of snow in a matter of two weeks. Needless to say you can keep your cold weather. And I'll stick with my humidity and mosquitoes here in Florida. :)
I do not understand the "i don't own an icescraper" comment. I do not get it.
:)
i do love talking about the weather...should've been a meteorologist. lol!
Ice scraper what?
Wear boots when not snowboarding on a mountain?
Mittens hmmm?
Maybe Deb and I should talk about the weather. At least we would understand what the other was saying.
Midwestern weather is awesome! Everything is so extreme about it.
Well done Cathy!
