A Favorite Thing - Around the Yard
May 24, 2010
The only time I really enjoy yard work besides when it's over is standing back and admiring how things turned out.
Here are a few images from around our yard.

These window boxes Tim built me were a favorite thing last year but with a different look.

Same goes for the clematis growing on our mailbox. Although Tim parked here for three days and our postal non-carrier refused to deliver our mail despite the fact that all of our neighbors have boxes at their front doors.

I love your window boxes but I am curious...what is the plant in between the trees? Tall red spikes?
I agree he did a fantastic job on those window boxes.
Sounds like a temperamental postal person. I like the flowers on the mailbox I must say... maybe I should do that to keep the birds from pooping on ours.. STUPID birds.

The tall red things are flower spikes of a plant called a red hot poker. Love them.
Also love the Clementius vine at the back of the truck. Nice.
As for the window boxes, love the color. Just never been a fan of petunias. Not sure why exactly. You can (have) made some very nice looking window baskets.
I'm sure you picked NC State Red for a reason, right? :D

Your yard is beautiful. I love the window boxes too. I feel the same way about yard work....not so much fun but I enjoy the view when I'm done. :)
Your landscaping is fantastic!!
