The Spider That Sat Down Beside Her

October 7, 2009

Last year, I documented how this Not So Itsy Bitsy Spider was hanging outside of our house. "Charlotte" is known as a Sewing Machine Spider, she makes that unique zig zag pattern in her web.

Over the winter, there was a spider pod not too far away and this year, Charlotte II showed up. A few weeks ago while doing some drinking weeding around the house, I discovered we had three of these spiders in different locations. Charlotte III and Charlotte IV are easy to spot with the distinctive spiderweb pattern.

I have tried several times to take pictures but can't seem to figure out the best setting on my fancy point and shoot camera.

I'm not a huge fan of spiders but they don't bother me unless they are on my person or I get caught in their web. I appreciate the fact that they trap and eat mosquitos which is my main bug nemesis.

CC was visiting us over the weekend and Troy knew she was a good reader as demonstrated earlier this year here and here.

CC and Troy reading Curious George
This reminds me of how CC had a spider problem at her place awhile ago and got a name of an exterminator from a friend. The guy came in and sprayed her patio area and then noticed she had a kegerator in the corner similar to my BFF Betty.

So he asked her out and CC went out with him on a date. Tim and I did question if he picked her up in the exterminator truck with the giant bug on the roof. He didn't but it was a good laugh and he didn't work out for whatever reason. Poor Spiderman, we had high hopes for you.

Ha! I dated an Orkin guy once. Sadly, he did have the logo on his truck. No giant bug on top though.

I don't like spiders generally either, but these I like. They are really beautifully decorated and their webs are unique. I've also heard them called zipper spiders.

I'd be afraid bugs would be hiding out in the guy's pant legs or something.

I HAD to come by and say 'hi' when I saw your comment on the SITS roll call, lol.

Love your blog header, too. The picture of the spider is fab, although I'm with you on spiders in general. I don't bother them if they don't bother me.

Spiders don't bother me too much...now snakes, that's a different story! Great blog! Stopping in from SITS!

Oh my! That spider is beastly!! I am not a fan of spiders, either. They seem to like my son's bathtub (his room is in the basement) and every time I go to clean there is one or two of them in there. EEEEK!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I will keep you in mind when I'm having "technical difficulties". :)

The one thing that absolutely creeps me out are spiders, especially the barn spiders found in TX!

I have that same spider. It scared the bejezzers out of me!

Did that spider put sutures in it's own web? That's slightly disturbing...
