Oysterfest 2009
October 13, 2009
We made our second trip to the Chincoteague Oyster Fest 2009 with The Neighbors and my brother Mike and his wife Ana this past weekend after going for the first time last year.
Heading north across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in all of it's 23 miles of glory, we were quickly transported into a rural environment of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Just shy of the Maryland border, we headed east towards the island of Chincoteague.
Settling into the campground by The Neighbors fifth wheel it was what I like to refer to as "Deb Camping." This translates into having electricity, air conditioning/heat, running water and indoor plumbing. So basically, a hotel room on wheels. I did have to sleep in a tent on the ground with an air mattress later on in the night.
After a short drive to Oysterfest which was in a different campground, we unloaded the truck and walked to our spot in the festival.
Now a quick rundown of a few pictures taken at the beginning.
Troy who was more interested in pine cones than oysters. Thi s is a much better smile than what he was doing earlier this year here.

Besides a variety of things oyster related, fried, on the half shell, steamed, sandwiches, chowder there were also crabs to eat.
It was a good trip despite having to "camp" in a real tent. Am I the only one who doesn't like to camp without necessities nearby?

I'm heading home to Long Island this weekend for an annual OysterFest! I Can Not Wait!
I can't rough it at all. Although with that many people out there, there's some moral support to make it!
I love the Ches. bridge so cool to go up and under.
I love oysters too...looks like fun.
xx
I love oysters but I don't know if I'm willing to camp for them.
This looks like so much fun and we've been looking forward to a trip like this for awhile now...just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I'm all for camping if there is no "camping" involved!
OH GOD I love oysters but I developed an allergy to them many years ago and they made me so sick. They were the canned kind. I'm too afraid to eat the raw ones now cuz I heard that once you have the allergy, you can't eat any of them.
Apparently the oceans are so polluted that one day, we won't be able to eat any of them. So sad.
Yum! I'm so jealous! And, I love camping as long as it isn't raining.
Love your neighbor's shirt...Beer Knurd! lol
