High School Football "Athletic Supporters"

October 1, 2009

While in Kentucky this past weekend, we went to my 17-year old stepson Cary's football game on Saturday before playing our version of golf on Sunday.

He's on the varsity team (#58) and plays Center. I'm an avid football fan and know a lot of about the sport but of course, have never played . I think one of the last positions I would want to be in is center even though you get to touch the ball every time on offense. But there is too much to worry about like handing off the ball to the quarterback and then blocking the nose tackle opposite you on defense.

Look at #78 in the yellow/white jersey that Cary had to defend against every play. I'm pretty sure that they don't have drug tests in high school but what is his mom feeding him? I noticed this kid as he was walking on the field and said to Tim, look how BIG that kid is! His jersey doesn't even cover him completely.

I would rule out wide receiver because that's just too much running. Let's be honest, I'll walk til the cows come home but running, no way. I avoided sports in high school that involved extensive running; soccer, cross country, basketball. I stuck to softball (short sprints) and volleyball.

Carson ever the supporter of her big brother spent the entire game behind the stands with her friends. She didn't know it but occasionally I walked to the top of the bleachers and took her picture. At one point I went around and took a picture of her with her friends from the school across the street.

There were some other Cary athletic supporters in the stands who share the same last name as me. Troy, Tim, my father-in-law aka The Bob-Father and his wife, the Other Deb. (We have the exact same name, including middle initial.)

The game was fun to watch and I appreciated again the 20x zoom, zoom, zoom on my camera.

There were a lot of hard hits and cheers from the crowds. It was homecoming and Cary's team won. We had a great time watching him play.

It's no secret that football is my favorite sport to watch. What's yours?

We are a football family as well. I was a cheerleader my whole life, so I always enjoyed the sport. Great pictures!!!

If I have to pick I would say pro football. Namely the New England Patriots.

I LOVE college football but that's it. Nothing else. I used to be able to watch the Bulls play basketball in Michael Jordan's heyday but I lost interest after that.

Sports? Hmmm...don't watch much of those. I like to watch dancing, though!

Not into sports. I was forced into going to so many games (football, baseball, basketball, wrestling) when I was small and my brother played that I can't stand it now.
I love your pictures though.
