You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Most of my friends know the sloppy joes and French fries story and how it relates to birthdays in our house.

This past weekend we went to my parents’ lake house to drop off Troy for the week. My parents friends of 50 years, John and Karen, were coming down along with their kids and grandkids. Karen puts Mrs. Fields to shame so I asked if she’d make Tim’s favorite birthday cake, red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

It wasn’t until we were all in the lake, that I told her that I didn’t think Tim had ever eaten red velvet cake, but I had been craving it.

Then she threatened to punch me in the face.

CC came in from Annapolis and joined in the shenanigans.
So we celebrated with mud slides.


Then it was time to sing happy birthday and Troy was very enthusiastic about it.


But he was more anxious to eat it.


The cake was delicious.
