Wordless Wednesday - A Horse is a Horse, of Course of Course

May 4, 2011

Horses are just like people. For me, it was easy to spot the one that reminded me of myself.
Horse named Skye

Loud. Fighting for attention. Funny.

When a horse's ears flick to the right or left, or back or front, that's where the horse is looking. The ears can flick in 2 opposite directions and the eyes operate independently of one another and can move in those 2 directions.

When you watch a horse race, the ears are often contained by a little leather holster type thing. This prevents the ever curious horse of "seeing" what's going on around him.

Whoa.
I was gonna say something stupid like how horses look like big dogs but Suzy's comment about the ear/eye coordination thingy is way cool and really amazing.
Who knew?
