Simple Pleasures with Grandparents

September 23, 2010

I didn't grow up with grandparents.

My mother's parents after having 11 children they raised on a farm in Canada passed away before I was born.

On my father's side, my grandfather passed away when I was in second grade and my grandma when I was in seventh grade. They lived in Ohio and we were near D.C. so we didn't see them often.

Thankfully, Troy has a lot of grandparents in his life. Sometime he gets confused between Nana, PopPop, Mamaw, Papaw and Grandma.

He spends a week or two at the lake in Bumpass every year with my parents and sees Tim's parents when we visit them in Kentucky or they come to Virginia.

Last weekend, at my mother-in-law's house, he enjoyed playing with bubbles.

Playing bubbles for Troy translates into trying to pop them with his head.

The next day at the farm, he enjoyed spending time with The Bob-Father and his wife, Debbie. (We have the same exact name which is a joke in the family and causes some confusion.)

He was especially thrilled to be the one driving.

Especially when he caught The Bob-Father off guard and pressed the gas.

It's the simple pleasures in life that make me smile.

The Bob-father reminds me of my dad playing with his grandkids(my little brothers daughters). He always lets them drive his souped up golf cart. He also bought them a little snowmobile.

My dad's parents had 11 kids too. And raised them on a farm in MN.

Oh this makes me miss my grandmothers! Now that I am "grown up" I am far away from them... about six hundred miles... and don't get to see them often. :(

Take lots of photos so he'll have wonderful memories with his grandparents when he's older!

My daughter has a LOT of grandparents and she has a wonderful time with them... to say she is spoiled would be a magnificent understatement!
