Flashback Friday (Part 65) - I Don't Run Unless I'm Being Chased

July 30, 2010

We grew up in a sports-minded family. Everyone played at least one sport from a young age and on weekends, football or college basketball was always on the television.

Although I remember more of what I did at my brother's wrestling matches and football games, there was a time when I did track and field.

From the ages of seven to nine and lived in this house.

I used to run then and not just away from my older brother who was trying to give me a swirly. If you don't know what that is, you're obviously an only child. You can find out what it is here.

Then I got taller and more focused lazy about which sports I liked to play and picked softball and volleyball because of the lack of running involved.

I found this picture three schoolmates and I before what was apparantly my first track meet of the season.
First track meet - 1985
On the back I wrote,
"Molly, Debbie, Sharon, Janel / Sherwood High School 1985 / First track meet"

I remember running one race and my Mom said I could have ice cream at the end.

I never ran faster.

Now I only run if it's last call.

Now it's your turn.

Find an old picture like Cathy and share a story about it. Flashback Friday has no real rules other than to have fun. Please share the link in comments to your actual post and not main blog for others to find you. If you'd like the button, here's the code to include. There's a square option on the side.

I wouldn't dare embarrass myself by showing my goofy photos of me running track for Paint Branch High School!

Visiting from NFF. Love the name of this post. If someone had ice cream for me at the end of the race, I'd run right out of my shoes!
