Demonstration by my Dad, Tim and Buck at the lake house over Memorial Day weekend the night before the boat ride. Every night before sundown, Buck takes down this flag because it doesn't have a light on it. Since it's my Mom's birthday, June 14th is Flag Day.

Some people really take their flag seriously and for that I salute them.

My former boss (who is a former 20yr marine) has an elaborate flag pole and lightning system. He follows every form of flag etiquette to a T. That kind of pride is more than admirable!

Nice the little's ones learning from the bigger ones. I'm not sure I would have remembered that about the stars. But probably you little one will never forget. Family is awesome and flags are really very important. They remind us of our loyalties and what we stand for.

I wish I knew how to do that. I like that they treat it with such reverence.

Very nice! And, did you know....to fly it at half staff you raise it all the way and then lower it? And to bring it down from half staff, you raise it back up and take it all the way back down?

Very cool photos...it seems not everyone celebrates Flag Day anymore. Kind of sad!

I live in Ontario Canada and I really wish that more Canadians took such pride in our flag. An inspiration! TFS

I used to be in Campfire Girls(similar to Girl Scouts) and I remember we had to learn how to fold the flag. Not that I would remember how to do it now! I can see the top of Troy's head in some of the pics, I hope he was taking notes!

My husband learned how to do this since he's in the military.

Very cool.
