Partying High on the Hog
June 1, 2010
We finally made it to Charlottesville for the 11th annual pig roast this past Saturday. Hosted by our close friends, it's held on the site of a former University of Virginia frat house not far from campus.
Here is Joe and Medium Jason.
Typically we see these friends for Foxfield, a horse race held in early May and our livers can't handle seeing them at the pig roast so soon afterwards. Then we visit in the summer for a day-long tubing trip on the James River which is when the Bloody Mary toolkit appears.
At the pig roast, everyone is encouraged to bring a bottle and a side dish. Here was my contribution of 7-layer dip and how I get around my distaste for olives.
One of the main organizers, our friend Joe, created a life-size jenga game and I was tasked with writing on most of the blocks since I've had years of experience.
Even though there were over 100 people throughout the day I saw so many old friends and it was nice to catch up with them.
There was live music all day long.
Tim with our friend Jonathan who is married to Kay the Redneck.
I'm standing with our friend Eric's mom. I told her with her blue eyes and freckles, we looked like we could be related.
After taking a cab home, we went back to the next day to survey the damage.
The official site for the pig roast is found at www.eatapig.com.

DI
Looks like a really good time! I just love me some 7-layer dip, too.
Wow that brought back some hazy memories of similar shenanigans :) Glad to see that you had so much fun!!
Looks like a fun time! Count me in for next year. Excellent idea on the 7-layer dip. I'm not a big fan of olives either(unless they've been soaking in my martini or bloody mary).
Black olives can bite me.
But on the weekend you were enjoying your pig fest I was at a party in Santa Monica, at a condo overlooking the Pacific Ocean. With a completely catered meal from one of the best delis anywhere in Los Angeles.
The thing I loved the most? Went back for seconds on? COULDN'T STOP EATING AND DON'T REMEMBER ITS ITALIAN NAME?
Had black olives in it.
Based on the amount of 'damages', looks like fun was had by all! The coconut bra...nice. :)
Oh my goodness, it lokoed like you guys had so much fun! And yes, your friend's mom and you could be related! I also think it's cool that your parents went out on the boat (in your previous post) with your nephew Dylan and everyone. So many older folks just feel their "too old" to participate in those things anymore. They're missing out on so much! Enjoyed my visit from Seven Clown Circus WW. Have a great day!
