Flashback Friday (Part 50) - You Know You're a Redneck If...

My life long friend Kay is a character. There is no one who meets her who doesn't remember her.

Friends since we were in grade school, she grew up in a small town called Beaverdam which is near my parents' lake house in Bumpass. Va. We used to actually be pen pals when she was 12 and I was 11 before there was email. We saw each other on the weekends and used to spend our Spring Breaks together which were called Easter vacation back then.


This photo was taken this past summer of Kay's husband of 10 years, Jonathan and Kay.


I fondly refer to her as "Kay the Redneck" to people who haven't met her yet. She denies the title and I simply point out that at her nephew's wedding, incidently who is two years older than her, she punched her older brother, who is 20 years older, In the Face. This was also the same wedding where the bride-to-be included in the invitation that she couldn't wait to "mary her sole mate."

For the record, Kay has a bachelor's and master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia. She's still a redneck.
