Tech Tip: Who Needs Photoshop?

June 22, 2009

I have had access to Photoshop for years but it wasn't until experimenting with Ree Drummond's aka The Pioneer Woman's actions last year that I became more knowledgeable. At some point this month I will be losing access to Photoshop (boring story) so after I mourned the news, I decided to look for something online that would allow me to touch up my photos and have a little fun.

I found picnik.com. According to their website, "Picnik makes your photos fabulous with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart’s content, then get creative with oodles of effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. It's fast, easy, and fun." They also allow you to easily save your photos to twitter, facebook, your website, etc.

The great part is you can experiment with their software for free and it's only $25 a year if you want to upgrade to the premium services.

I took this picture on Saturday of Troy standing by our whiskey barrel pond holding a small alligator. This is SOOC (straight out of camera).

This is after I did a few quick touchups and played in picnik.com. I love the difference because the focus is now on Troy's face and pursed lips.
