Flashback Friday (part 15) - Turkducken

April 17, 2009

Several years ago for Thanksgiving 2003, we were planning the dinner menu with The Neighbors and Caroline said she wanted to do something different. Everyone sort of nodded their heads up and down and figured that meant smoked turkey vs. fried turkey.
No.

She wanted to make her own turkducken.

Question: What the what is a turducken?
Answer: It's a de-boned duck stuffed inside of a de-boned chicken stuffed inside of a de-boned turkey.
Got all that?

So the night before we all assembled in The Neighbors' Hell's kitchen and Chef Ramsey Caroline gave us our assignments.
I was in charge of cutting up cup after cup of celery and onion for the three different types of stuffings that were going between each bird. The interesting part was when all the pieces were ready and it was assembly time.
Adult beverage break for their efforts.
Tim and Chris had to work together to get all of the birds inside one another with the stuffing in between.
The other sous chef, Caroline.

Finished cooked product the next day.

Slicing through three birds and three types of stuffing. It was a lot of work under careful supervision by yours truly but it was pretty darn good eating. Slicing through the turducken on Thanksgiving

Here is explanation of Flashback Friday (FF) and other FF posts.

That is so crazy that you guys made your own Turducken. I can't image that they taste good (all the different flavors) but people sure do like them
