Before the Dawn

April 2, 2009

Troy in the early morning with Curious GeorgeSince we took Troy's crib down on New Year's, he sleeps on his crib mattress on the floor because his real bed is extremely high off the floor.

What this translates into is that the child is not caged in any more so in the morning when he wakes up, he opens the door, makes the long trek of 36 inches (uphill both ways?) to our bedroom door, opens it and is instantly greeted by two labs who jump to their feet (paws?).

None of this is all bad except that he went from sleeping til 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. which means seven days a week, there is no sleeping in at the Thaxton house. Correction, there is no sleeping in for Me in the Thaxton house. Tim easily starts snoring falls back to sleep on the weekends.

So before the dawn, we snuggle in on the couch and watch cartoons. The child is in the zone and just stares at the screen as he slowly wakes up which is usually timed with the sun rising.

He's rather alert don't you think? He's not only focused on the cartoons but he's shoveling cheerios into his mouth without even blinking.

I wished you lived in Atlanta...and needed a babysitter, because that is one seriously adorable kid.
