Flashback Friday (part 8) - Key West and The Fly Navy Hotel
February 13, 2009
Almost 10 years ago, Tim and I went on what became the first of two trips to Key West that year. I love this place and had been the previous year for Spring Break '98 with CC and our friend Meg.
The shenanigans on Duval Street were interesting every night we ventured out.
Since Tim was in the military at the time we stayed at a very reasonable price in the hotel on the Navy base. In the large tower of the hotel it said "Fly Navy" so I kept referring to the "Fly Navy Hotel" whenever we needed a cab home or someone asked us where we were staying. It wasn't until the end of the week that Tim told me while laughing No One In Their Right Mind called it that. Exactly. It explains why I called it that (and still do!).
It does explain a few chuckles I heard from various cab drivers in the late hours of the night too.
Sunsets in Key West are amazing and we made a point to make it to the top floor of one of the hotels on Duval to capture the sunset.

Here is Tim standing by his truck and the palms trees before leaving The Fly Navy hotel.

More tales of this trip will be shared in future Flashback Friday (FF) posts. Here is explanation of Flashback Friday and other FF posts.
